Welcome
When people can grow their own food, they feel safe and strong. They don’t worry as much about storms, money problems, or world events. Our Ancestors knew this. They practiced this when they had the freedom to do so. They struggled for the freedom to do so.
Here on St. Croix and in the Caribbean, we can plant, cook, and save most of the food we need. This helps us live well, not just get by. We have good land, smart farmers, and help from our local university. We also have traditions from many cultures—African, Asian, British, Spanish, French, Dutch, Danish, US American and Indigenous.
We can use old wisdom from our ancestors and farm in ways that keep the soil healthy. We can also use modern science. At the same time, we build strong communities.
In Ag plan 2021 and Vision 2040 Our leaders have promised to support these ways of life.

A local community able to control its own food supply enjoys enhanced security, peace, and resilience to weather any storm meteorological, economic or geopolitical.
Our Ancestors knew this. They practiced this when they had the freedom to do so. They struggled for the freedom to do so.
Here on St. Croix, among the islands of the USVI and the wider Caribbean we have the potential to grow, process, and store the bulk of our nutritional needs to prosper beyond mere subsistence.
We have the land, we have the skill, we have the support of the agricultural, scientific & business mission of our Historic Land Grant University.
We have the heritage of the virtues of free Caribbean Creole Villages in the traditions of English, Spanish and French speaking peoples. We are able to recover indigenous lore and work our land intelligently and regeneratively to build the soil even as we build community rooted in the soil.
In the AG plan 2021 and Vison 2040 we have the stated positive commitment of our territorial leaders elected and appointed.
